This artwork is my personal version of The Magician card from the classic Major Arcana of the Tarot. The character is the Protagonist of one of my story lines, which includes the Rain Sequence and more to come.. This illustration is a pair with The Star (which is placed above him and from which the feminine flowing energy of life is coming down in a whirl and feeds the mage). Shortly after being created it was and is my best seller on conventions. The artwork itself includes a drawn frame which is giving the artwork a more noble look in a full simple frame. For this artwork a passepartout is not recommended.
More about the Tarot Card:
“The Magician card is numbered One – the number of new beginnings and opportunities – and associates with the planet of Mercury. He stands with one arm stretched upwards towards the Universe, and the other pointing down to the earth. His positioning represents his connection between the spiritual realms and the material realms. The Magician uses this relationship to create and manifest his goals in the physical realm. He is the conduit that converts energy into matter.”

“In short The Magus represents the step from dependence (passivity) to self-awareness (action). All the outside forces which try to shape us into their image or make us dependent and comfortable bury the inner or true will under layers of confusion and disorientation. To awake the Magus within oneself the net of layers must be ripped off to see clearly (even if it is just for a moment). Only then we can reshape our routines and cycles to a better outcome. In this context the phoenix would be a similar symbol.”
